Emerging Technologies for Global Food Security
June 19, 2018 @ 7:30 am - June 21, 2018 @ 9:00 pm
| $750The Global Institute for Food Security (GIFS) was founded to perform research that will help deliver transformative innovation to agriculture in both the developed and the developing world.
In order to meet the world’s food needs, agricultural productivity needs to improve by about 70% by 2050, and this improvement can come only through ingenuity and innovation. GIFS is here to help make these improvements. We are creating technologies that will have commercial utility in advanced agricultural nations and the developing world alike.
Held every two years, the Emerging Technologies for Global Food Security conference brings together the world’s preeminent researchers, thinkers and policy makers on agriculture and the developing work to discuss the question of how to feed the world population, particularly as global population reaches 9 billion by 2050.
The Conference will share the innovative knowledge, creative technology and critical connections we need to address the issue of global food security. A short list of session topics includes:
- Plant Phenotyping and Imaging Research Centre (P2IRC): The impact of agri-tech on global food security
- Global perspective on agriculture
- Pioneering research on plant epigenetics
- Abiotic stress
- Pests and diseases
- Maize genetics and genomics
- Biological nitrogen fixation and its implications for global food security
- Crop Performance and nutritional quality
- Soil Health and sustainability
- Wheat genomics and assembly
- Nestlé’s work on tropical crops, nutritional quality, and new protein technology
